IBW Networks Decision Baseline
Today's commercial buildings are not built to allow radio signals to penetrate into the building, often resulting in a poor cellular experience. In-building Wireless (IBW) networks, which transmit the radio signal inside the building, can be used to provide improved connectivity throughout the office or hospital.
Different technologies can be used to support an IBW network, including Wi-Fi, a Distributed Antenna System, or private 5G / LTE using CBRS, and it is common to have both Wi-Fi and cellular systems.
This white paper, which was sponsored by Red Bison, discusses in detail the different types of IBW networks, including their benefits, drawbacks, typical costs, and space & power consumption requirements. The white paper also provides a decision making matrix that can be used as a basic guide when selecting the 'best' network technology for an IBW deployment.
